Well, folks. We’re only one week past the autumnal equinox…and I think we all know what that means… …break out the fall décor, have yourself a very merry pumpkin space latte , and check Cameron’s blog for yet another preliminary winter weather forecast. Now, I’m not gonna lie...my winter weather  forecast for middle Tennessee last year held up rather well. Granted, I normally don’t toot my own horn considering I’m just a humble, amateur meteorologist in it for the love of the science; however, after the multiple ice storms and ankle-biter snow events we experienced between January 23 - February 21, I’d have to say my “B+” grade, in terms of activity and magnitude, was the correct call. Flash Weather: 2018-19 Winter Weather Forecast

Well, folks. We’re a month removed from the autumnal equinox…and I think we all know what that means… …break out the fall décor (if you haven’t already), have yourself a very merry pumpkin-spice latte , and check Cameron’s blog for yet another preliminary winter weather forecast. Now, I admit: while last year’s winter weather forecast verified for the most part, I underestimated the magnitude of late December-early January cold fearing a multi-week blowtorch would skew monthly temperature means (as it did January and February 2017); however, as it turned out, there were very few stretches December 2017 to March 2018 featuring consistent +5-10 departures. So while I caught the overall pattern in advance, I belittled the margin on account of recency bias. Had I removed such predisposition from the equation, my results would have been more accurate. Inside the Boxscore: The Craziest, Wildest Week of Fantasy Football Ever

They say fantasy football is a game based on luck and skill, a social experience extending beyond the game itself. But as a seven-year vet coming off his most inconceivable  weekend of play, it's hard to be so sure anymore. Yes, fantasy football is an unpredictable showdown  involving hours of research, analysis, and anticipation; however, other intangibles like  coaching changes, career histories, injuries, roster moves, and sabermetric s can also impact league outcome. Personally, if you ask me, fantasy football is more a s tatistical war of attrition   than a sum of luck and skill.  But in case you prefer proof rather than taking some random guy's word for it, consider my week 14...a week in which three of my four bubble teams qualified for the playoffs in some of the most statistically improbable ways.
